Help Veggie Fiend Equip Vegan Cafe in Avondale

Hi! My name is Amber Lord and I am a vegan chef and cake artist in Birmingham, Alabama.

Some of you know me for simply for my custom cakes, some from Food Not Bombs days, or my pop-up days at Birmingham Vegan Fest, Cahaba Brewing, Tropicaleo, Hot Box, and Saturn. There’s still more from the daily community relief meals I provide during the beginning of Covid outside Tropicaleo. It has always been my mission to feed folks good, nourishing vegan food while showing that it doesn’t have to be boring or complicated.

I've dreamt of opening an all vegan cafe for as long as I can remember, it has never seemed like much of a tangible dream, but yet the dream has always remained.

I've spent I don't know how many years feeding people- from punks at house parties and board game nights, traveling bands, to high end wedding guests, because it's what I do. It's what I love. It's what I dream about. Food and art, and all the ways to combine them. All these years, and I've dreamt of a community, a space, a cafe...

I've finally been given a huge opportunity to partner with Cha House Bham in Avondale! I am in house Tuesday-Sunday serving daily elevated small plates and assorted treats. Always fresh, locally sourced, and vegan. I will be focusing on whole food plant based way of eating, one that benefits our community, our health, and our environment.

I have always tried to fund everything I do through the food itself, but I'm starting out with a bit of a challenge, and it's one I feel ready to face. The kitchen situation is bare bones, baby!

The funds raised in this campaign will go towards initial equipment and supply costs, expanding health department licensing, consultation, cookware, steam tables, packaging, additional tables, and everything needed to prepare and expand the mission to serve delicious, healthy, and local vegan food to our community! None of this will be possible without your help.

Even if you can't donate, I hope you'll come by soon and say hi to a girl who is getting to live her dream. A dream that I hope will benefit us all. <3
