Hello, my name is Amber Wyzomirski & I’ve started this GoFundMe to help me be able to go & stay with my mother in the hospital during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
My 82-year-old mother, Evalee Nickles, is currently in the ICU at UK Hospital in Lexington, KY where she is fighting for her life against a bilateral subdural hematoma, a.k.a a brain bleed, that had pooled on both hemispheres of her brain.
I had to call an ambulance for her this past Monday after she was complaining of feeling too weak to walk & was experiencing some mild confusion. Things escalated quickly from there with her being diagnosed with the brain bleed at a local hospital, followed by her being rushed to UK Hospital, a large, state of the art facility, via helicopter & then into surgery today, Tuesday, February 10th. This was all in a bid to remove the excess blood & fluid from her brain. Thankfully, she made it through surgery, but not without some complications - she had an irregular heartbeat during the surgery which required immediate medication, was struggling to fully wake up from the anesthesia, & was vomiting uncontrollably once she had begun to stir. In light of these issues, her medical team decided the best course of action at the moment would be to sedate her & place her on a ventilator. She is currently in ICU.
I very much wish to go & be with her during these trying times of course, but I am unfortunately out of PTO at my job & simply cannot afford to eat the wage loss from taking off without pay, as I am currently the only breadwinner in my household. That’s why the goal of this GoFundMe is to raise enough money to be able to afford to take off some time to go & be with her, stay in a hotel at night as they will not allow me to stay with her overnight in the ICU, & afford some modest meals for myself & my loving, supportive husband, who will of course be with me.
I have calculated that one week of this comes out to around $1,500, so that is our goal. Any amount you could give is beyond appreciated, as is sharing of the Go Fund Me campaign.
Thank you for taking time out to read this & God bless!
