Help Amazing Father Enjoy Last Days of His Life

Who is my dad?

 

My father Cecil Smith is the greatest. Such a kind, selfless, humble, loving, and honest man. Can always make you smile no matter the circumstances. He’s been a dedicated father, always put us first, and strived to provide for us, even if it meant living paycheck to paycheck throughout the majority of his life.

 

His medical diagnosis.

 

After many years of working, he was finally able to retire on November 1, 2021. Two months after retiring, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer (Pleomorphic Sarcoma) and told he had six months left to live. What unfortunate timing, since this will take away the years he could have used to relax and make time for himself finally.

 

What does he need?

 

His cancer is causing a lot of pain and affecting his ability to go up and down the stairs. He lives on a 3rd-floor apartment building, considers this apartment to be paradise, and would like to live out his final days there. My father wishes to go into hospice at his apartment. I plan to be his sole caretaker, but unfortunately, if I took time off work, I would not be able to pay for my living expenses. He experiences a lot of physical pain, stress, and anxiety due to his condition. As his caretaker, I would be with him around the clock, cook his meals, manage his pain when it spikes, bathe him, clean up his living area, provide emotional support, and anything else he needs.

 

We need to raise money to provide a specialized wheelchair that could assist me in bringing him up and down the stairs and pay for living expenses due to me needing to take time off work to be his sole caretaker.

My father has sacrificed so much for us throughout his life. He has always placed family first, even above his wants, needs, and dreams. He is the type of person to give you the shirt off his back if you ever needed it, and the one people came to for help, but now he is the one that needs your help.
