Amazing Amelia has many medical issues but she constantly amazes us all! She was born with a rare genetic disorder called Aicardi Syndrome. It causes agenesis of her corpus callosum (the bridge between the two sides of our brains), epilepsy, developmental delays, vision problems (coloboma and lacunae), balance problems, behavior problems, fine motor skill issues, and more. Doctors weren't sure if she would even walk or talk! She also has type 1 diabetes and celiac disease in addition to everything else. To support our Amazing girl, we are working through the process of getting her a service dog that can help with all of these issues as well as be a companion!
