Help amazing ALANA
Donation protected
Hello to all my family and friends.
I have started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help my little cousin Alana and her wonderful family.
Before Corona interfered, Alana was taking Salsa lessons and was very active active in cheerleading.
She has been cheerleading since she was four years old.
She and her team have won quite a few awards.
She’s a very sociable young person.
A good student and an exceptional daughter and sister!! Close to her parents. She enjoys cooking with her mother. Her 22 year old brother is very close to her and very proud of her.
Alana is a beautiful active, sensitive young lady who was looking forward to her dreams and her first year of high school and enjoying the life of a teenager. She is 14.
Then at the end of January she was sabotaged by.... you guessed it!!!COVID 19!
She spent 35 scary days at Summerlin Hospital. Some of those in ICU.
Lucky for us that she’s a minor, her Mom who took a leave of absence from work was able to be her 24/7 caretaker. The nurses were amazing, but who better to look out for you, than Mom!
On March 1, she finally got to go home.
She survived COVID but it took it’s toll on her young body. Due to all the meds and steroids, it left her a diabetic who will have to take insulin for the rest of her life.
Another complication is, Misc-C (multi system inflammatory syndrome- children) which requires, that she take a drug called Anakinra for a while. Two and a half months supply alone will cost $11,000.00.
This is what her diagnosis looks like;
Acute kidney injury
Acute respiratory failure with hipoxia
Asthma exacerbation,mild
Hyperglycemia
Hypertension due to drugs
Hipoxemia
Mesenteric Adenitis
Misc-C with COVID-19
Tachycardia
All these complications are due to the virus.
We still don’t know what the final bill from the hospital will be like.
Soon Alana will be going to her freshman year of high school, where she hopes that her illnesses won’t keep from joining the cheerleading team, she also has dreams of joining the ROTC.
She also is looking forward to continuing her SALSA classes like a true Puerto Rican.
