Help Amayah Return to SCAD – Support Her Dream to Create

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christina, and I’m a proud single mom asking for help to keep my daughter, Amayah Sage, enrolled at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), the school that has brought her joy, purpose, and a true sense of belonging.

Art has always been in Amayah’s heart. SCAD was her dream school from the very beginning, a goal she never gave up on. When she got accepted, it was one of the proudest moments of our lives. And during her freshman year, that dream came to life. She flourished not just in the classroom, but as a young woman finally surrounded by creativity, inspiration, and peers who shared her passion.

But that year came with unexpected challenges.

Amayah suffered a serious finger injury during her first year, a painful and emotional setback for a young artist. She had to return home for surgery and recovery, and even though her heart was set on returning to finish the school year, her doctor didn’t clear her to go back. That decision was made for her health and safety, and while I was grateful to have her home, it broke both of our hearts to pause her journey.

Because she couldn’t complete the year, her financial aid was put on hold, which now makes her return even more difficult. We’ve done all we can to work with the school and apply for help, but there’s still a significant gap.

Now, Amayah is healed, hopeful, and more determined than ever to return to SCAD for her sophomore year. But after losing a semester and with two full years still ahead, we’re facing a difficult financial reality. The cost of tuition, housing, and school-related expenses is around $60,000, and while I’ve returned to school myself to build a better future, I’m simply not in a financial position to fully support her dream.

I know that God will see us through, and I trust Him with all my heart. But I also believe I must do my part, and that’s why I’m humbly asking for your help. I’ve never been one to ask for handouts, but for my daughter’s future, I will do whatever it takes.

And if I’m being honest, Amayah would probably kill me if she knew I was doing this. She’s humble, hardworking, and never asks for anything. But as her mom, I can't sit back and let her dream slip away. She’s come too far, and she deserves every chance to finish what she started.

I know this may seem like a lot to ask, and it is, but this is Amayah’s dream, and finishing what she started means everything to her. We’re playing it year by year, one semester at a time, doing everything we can to keep her where she belongs, and I believe, with help, we can get there.

I know in my heart that Amayah is meant to do something great in the art world; she just needs the support to get there.
