Help Amarie Finish Her Education

Hello!
My name is Amarie Williams, and this fall, I’ll be a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh with a 3.59 GPA. As a very low-income student, I’ve been able to attend college thanks to a combination of academic scholarships, federal loans, and part-time work- doing everything I can to ease the financial burden on my incredibly supportive (but already stretched) family.
However, as a senior, I’m no longer guaranteed on-campus housing, which means I need to find an apartment in order to finish my degree. Off-campus housing in Pittsburgh typically costs $900/month or more, and unfortunately, financial aid doesn’t cover rent or living expenses outside university housing. This is a drastic change from last year, when my monthly school payments were as low as $0.
While I’m continuing to look for jobs this summer and will keep working during the school year, the truth is that even full-time work won’t be enough to cover rent while maintaining my academic standing. While my immediate family tries their hardest and deeply wants to help more, day-to-day expenses are already hard to manage, and I truly have no other financial safety net.
That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe- to ask for help securing stable housing so I can finish my senior year, stay on track to graduate in the spring, and cross the finish line with the classmates and close friends I’ve grown with over the past three years.
If you’re able to contribute anything, I would be incredibly grateful, and if you can share this with others who might be able to help, that means the world to me too. Thank you so much for reading and for any support, in any form.
With love and gratitude,
