On May 16, 2025, a tornado devastated St. Louis, MO, leaving many displaced and facing immense loss. Among them is my supervisor, Amari' Cunningham—a kind, selfless, and radiant soul. That morning, she was preparing to celebrate her graduation from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a milestone years in the making. But instead of a day of joy, she and her cousin, who lives with her, were met with heartbreak and destruction.

"Hello, my name is Amari’ Cunningham, and I never imagined I’d be writing this on what was supposed to be one of the proudest days of my life—my graduation day.

On May 16, 2025, while getting ready to celebrate this major milestone, a tornado suddenly hit our home. I was home alone with a younger family member at the time, and in a matter of moments, everything changed. The storm tore through our neighborhood, damaging our home and leaving us in shock.

Thankfully, we made it out safely—but our home didn’t. The damage has left us displaced, with parts of the house uninhabitable and belongings lost or ruined. We’re now facing the task of recovery while also trying to manage everyday life and responsibilities.

This was meant to be a day of joy, but it turned into a heartbreaking one. We’re humbly asking for help from anyone willing and able. Your support will go toward emergency housing, repairs, clothing, food, and replacing essentials we lost in the storm. No amount is too small, and every share and donation makes a difference.
