Hi, my name is Amari! This year, to celebrate my 30 years around the sun, the only thing I really want to do by the end of the year is finally move forward with gender-affirming surgery so I can be my most authentic self. Unfortunately, I can't do it alone, so I'm looking to my community.

I had saved nearly half of it over a year ago, but those funds were depleted when someone ran into my car, totaling it, and suddenly, I had to spend all of my savings on a rental car and then, eventually, the rest to purchase my new car alongside what I got from my claim. Before, it had been easier to save that money as I had started a new job and my car was paid off. Now, with the cost of living continuously rising and with a new car payment, it's a lot harder for me to save money as I previously did. I live in a southern state, and I'm increasingly worried about how long I have to do this before it's completely inaccessible to me. I've been wanting this for years, but it's always been out of reach, and with my presentation being so fluid, I feel that this is the one thing I really need to feel like me, no matter how anyone else might perceive me.

I'm asking for the exact amount that I've been quoted. I know there will be other fees and expenses, but I'll still be working to save on my end and only ask for this. If I receive more than I need or have anything left over, I will donate it to other Black trans folks in need as well.
