Hello family, friends, and to all of those who may or may not know me.
My name is Jennifer Beltagy. I am a single mother of 5 beautiful children: Nautica (26), Curtis (18), Amar (12), Aliyah (7), and Koast, who passed. They are my whole life, light, and soul. My children are what keeps me going.
I have always been an independent mother and have been used to doing everything on my own for my kids and myself. With that it is difficult to ask for help but at this time help is what my family and I need through these difficult times.
On December 4, 2012, I gave birth to Amar, now 12, who I was told would not make it past 7 months gestational, let alone life. I believed God had a purpose for my baby and I was blessed to be his mother. He had a very large omphalocele containing his liver, kidneys, small and large intestines, and his stomach all on the outside of his belly with two holes (ASD, PDA) in his heart. He underwent surgery less than 12 hours after birth and surgery every other day, making it a total of 23 surgeries before he was allowed to come home at 4 months and 7 days old. Only to come back in for his heart surgery at 2 years old, then to have another surgery at 3 years old to have his tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes placed in his ears. Amar beat the odds that were against him since finding out his health concerns. Amar has had many obstacles to overcome and he has been a true warrior through it all.
On December 30, 2024, Amar came to me with complaints of a headache, so I gave him Tylenol and he was able to go to sleep. Then on December 31, he woke me up with complaints of his head hurting again, so again I gave him Tylenol. He didn’t complain until later on, wanting me to call his doctor, but the office was closed. I told him if he wakes with his head hurting in the morning that I would take him to the hospital. So on January 1, he said his head was still hurting. I drove him to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, only to think he would be treated for a migraine and be sent home feeling like himself again. Well, that wasn’t the case. Amar was admitted to the hospital on January 1, 2025. They did multiple procedures removing fluid off the spine and brain only to have found multiple medical conditions that were causing him to have severe pain in his head. They found pneumonia, walking pneumonia, Cat Scratch Fever IGG, Meningitis, Lyme Disease Meningitis, Sepsis Meningitis, and Encephalitis on his brain. After speaking to a whole team of physicians and doctors from neurological, cardiology, and infectious disease specialists, they told me he has some serious damage to his brain and this will take time for him to recover and heal. They informed me that he will be here at NCH for some time after they get the infection out and he will need in-house occupational therapy and physical therapy before he can even go home. Even after being able to go home, he will still need therapy for some time and that will include a lot of driving to and from his appointments.
I understand we all go through hard times so please anything helps. Whether it be prayers, love, support, sharing my story, sending positive vibes, a donation. All is accepted and very much appreciated and needed.
I would also like to acknowledge ALL of Amar’s AMAZING medical team for their time, care and patience with my son through his journey.
Please know me and my family THANK-YOU ALL from the bottom of our hearts.
We are fundraising to cover Amar's extensive medical expenses as his insurance dropped him for being HIGH RISK! So every little bit helps with the cost of medical treatment and living expenses.

Thank you all again for all the prayers, support and love for Amar! #AmarStrong
