Help Amani Al-Ashqar Feed Her Children

My name is Amani Al-Ashqar, a woman from Gaza. I write these words with the weight of life’s unbearable pain on my shoulders. I am a mother of two young children: Ameer, my eldest son who is 11 years old, and Kinda, my little daughter who is only 4. We are living under constant bombardment, hunger, and deprivation — struggling to survive each day in an endless tragedy. We have been displaced multiple times. From one house to another, from one street to the next, and every shelter we find is only temporary before the bombs chase us away again. We have lost everything...even the feeling of safety. I live with my sick mother who has suffered a stroke and is now completely unable to move. She cannot care for herself, not even raise her hand to touch us. She urgently needs a wheelchair and essential medications to survive. I am a divorced woman with no support but God. I carry all these responsibilities on my fragile shoulders, and I feel like I am on the verge of collapse. What tears me apart the most is my helplessness in feeding my children... I cannot bear to see them hungry in front of me while I can do nothing for them. I search for a loaf of bread but cannot find one, I look for medicine but cannot afford it, I long for a safe place but there is no safe place in Gaza. I write to you from a broken heart, from the heart of a mother who watches her children with hunger and fear. I write to you, hoping you will see my weakness and look upon us with humanity.
