Help Amanda's Son Heal After Tragic Accident
Donation protected

This is a hard thing to do because I’m not use to asking for help and my son’s pictures haven’t been posted anywhere.
My son is 20 years old and has worked since he was 16. He is such a good young man and has a heart of gold. Trust me when I say I’m not saying it because he’s mine.
On October 1st, my son was hit head-on by a drunk driver while he was riding his motorcycle. He was taken to UT Medical Center and was in Surgical Trauma ICU for 5 days, and now we are on another floor. He has a fractured skull in the back and will be in a neck brace for 2 months. He has had around 8 surgeries on his left knee due to his skin being ripped off his knee and the rest up to his thigh being de-gloved, trying to clean everything out of his leg. He ended up in a ditch that was filled with murky water, so it’s been very hard to clean. He broke his left hip and had a plate screwed into it. He broke his left shoulder, and they did surgery on it, but it popped out again, so he had another surgery. His left heel was de-gloved as well, and the skin and cells ended up dying, so they had to cut all the dead out of it. Now it’s up to the plastic surgeon to come up with a way to make and repair the cells and skin together. He broke both his wrists and has plates and screws in those. He has a lacerated spleen that caused him to lose a lot of blood in the beginning, but he hasn’t lost any more in a few days. He broke his left thigh bone and had to have surgery to repair it, and that’s going to require multiple surgeries to come. His left middle finger had to have some of it amputated. His white blood cell count is supposed to be 10,000, but it’s staying around 20,000 or higher. There is just so much going on with him, and he has a lot of trauma. I honestly don’t think I could think of it all right now.
They said after he gets discharged from here, he will go to a rehabilitation center, but they don’t like taking patients with no insurance unless they pay upfront. Most of us don’t have thousands of dollars just sitting in our account. I do have to say that I am so thankful that I didn’t lose my son that night, but deep down, I know he isn’t out of the woods yet. My God is a good God, and he didn’t deserve this. He doesn’t have any insurance, and I can’t even imagine what these bills are going to be. He asked me how much this hotel room was going to charge him a night, and I tell him it’s free. This matter should be the least of his worries. He doesn’t remember anything about that day or even weeks before it. Every time he closes his eyes to go to sleep, I have to tell him where he is and why all over again. I haven’t left his side, and he always tells me he didn’t know I was here. That breaks my heart, and I ensure him I haven’t left his side and I won’t. I’m praying his memory keeps improving and his body heals. It’s hard for me to ask for help as a mother, but I’m at a loss for what to do, and whatever it is, I can’t do it on my own. He can’t see without his glasses and those alone will be close to $500. I understand times are hard right now for everyone, and if you can’t help, then prayers work wonders and we appreciate all that we can get. Thanks for listening to my son’s story. I will keep updating as I can.

The funds from this fundraiser will be used for medical equipment that we may need upon his release and physical therapy to do house visits that he is required to have. If there is anything left it will go directly to his care or anything he needs to help him through his recovery. 100% of any money donated will go to Aiden’s healing and caring. Thank you all so much because every dollar donated goes along way.
