Help Amanda's Brain Injury Budget
Donation protected
One evening in May of 2018, after teaching my free Queer & Trans Yoga class at the Salus Center, I was playing with my kiddo when I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. As a result, for the past year I have struggled with memory (both making new memories of my life and recalling information I once knew). I have been unable to work as much as I need to. I am sometimes unable to walk or talk normally. Sometimes my hands don't work, and I have double vision. I am tired all the time, frequently in pain, and suffer sleep dysfunction.
All of this has led to increased isolation, deeper depression, heightened anxiety, and the return of PTSD symptoms.
I have undergone several tests, including an MRI for $1,150. I have lots of testing still ahead of me, including neuropsychology evaluation to pinpoint the precise functions lost. I have tried different medical interventions to help with depression and anxiety, and I'm still on a journey to find something that works.
I need help paying my medical bills, catching up on expenses that have piled up since I've been disabled, and paying for car repairs so that I can continue to work as much as possible.
Many of you already know my story. I am deeply blessed to be surrounded by a loving community who has helped me survive this long. I am infinitely grateful for all the ways you've already helped me - sending money, dropping off groceries, sitting near me and doing art, cleaning my house, helping me with laundry, reminding me to eat and take meds.... and so much more.
If you are able to donate $$, please do. Every little bit helps. If you are not able to donate, please know that I understand and I don't love you any less.
