Fight like a girl

At the end of May, Amanda was in for a routine physical at her doctor. She was was finally making herself a priority and was taking the steps needed to care for both her mental and physical health. So they did all the things, took all the tests, and did a mammogram, because, well, “over 40”.

She expected to hear things like, “drink more water, be sure to get more exercise, be sure you’re getting proper sleep” but what she didn’t expect was cancer.

This wasn’t apart of the plan. All she wanted was to feel better so she could take care of herself and her young daughter.

After a few weeks of appointments it was decided by her care team that a combination of therapies would be needed to combat the disease: a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.

Each treatment time consuming. Each treatment physically exhausting and painful, each treatment causing her to miss work.

This is where we ask for your help, friends. Amanda has worked for years as a manager at her local Dairy Queen, and though she is literally the HARDEST working person I know, the benefits package for this small franchised business simply cannot compensate for months of time off when you’re fighting for your life.

Disability insurance? Nope. Dont even get me started on how corrupt the system is for those who truly need it.

This is why I created this go fund me. Not for frivolous things, but for Amanda to have the assistance she needs to just pay her bills while she’s out of work, get her daughter’s school supplies, or to buy a bandanna that makes her feel beautiful when she loses her hair.

We can’t do everything. We can’t make her better. Only God can do that, but we can do something. We can all do something. We can be the hands and feet of Jesus and come together for her. We can send cards of encouragement or buy groceries, we can send over a warm meal, and we can support this fundraising mission to relieve some financial stress from her shoulders.
