Help Amanda with caregivers

I am a 40-year-old wheelchair user who is as actively involved as I can be in my community.

For most of my adult life, I have needed a caregiver to help me get ready for my day. The help they provide allows me the independence I need to live my life which is extremely valuable.

Maintaining good aides is crucial in order for me to carry out my life's skills, needs, and goals. I am grateful to have had Carolyn working with me 5 days a week for the past two years.

Back in 2021 we created this Go Fund Me account in order to be able to hire good aides and to supplement their pay. The agency that I work with, GT Independence, allows me to interview and hire the people I choose. They however set the hourly pay rate which then was $13.59 per hour. For the past 2 years I have been able to offer my aides a monthly bonus thanks to Go Fund Me.

The good news is that GT has increased the hourly pay rate.

The bad news is that my fund is getting low.

My goal with this Go Fund Me campaign is to secure funds to be able to continue to supplement the current agency’s wage of $15.59 per hour in order to help my aides meet their needs of earning a decent living wage.

This will be done through a reasonable monthly bonus plan which is set up in accordance with their work hours. Accountable and accurate records are kept of all donations and bonuses.
