I was in extreme pain and after several hours in the hospital, I was diagnosed with kidney stones. After 10 days without passing the stones, the doctors said I needed surgery to remove them. In the recovery room, I woke up screaming—the pain was so bad I couldn't walk, and nobody told me why. After a day or two, they ran several tests but still didn't have any answers. I was moved upstairs, stayed about four more days, then transferred to a nursing home without explanation.


I've been here for about four months. Since then, I lost my room and have no place to go, no money for rent, deposits, utilities, or even food. I've been in and out of shelters for 15 years, and in my current condition, they won't be able to accept me, so I don't have anywhere to go. What scares me the most is my time at the nursing home is almost up—they say I am ready to be discharged.
