I’m Amanda, and I’m asking for help after our bookstore in McCaysville was devastated by flooding for the second time since August. This time, the Toccoa River reached its highest ever recorded level, cresting at over 18 ft, and the damage has been overwhelming. We lost almost all of our inventory of new and used books and gifts, and two local vendors who trusted us with their handmade items also lost thousands in inventory. What should have been a place of comfort, stories, and community has been turned upside down in a matter of hours.
Your support will help us with clean-up, replacing damaged fixtures, restocking inventory, and covering living expenses over the next few months as we try to find a path forward and hope to reopen. We may also need to secure a new location, which means deposits and fees we were not prepared for. I also want to say clearly that our entire community has suffered greatly, and we know many others are hurting too. If there is any way we can help someone else, please reach out. If you’re able to give, thank you for helping us take the first steps toward rebuilding. If you can’t give financially, your thoughts and prayers mean so much, and we will also be collecting donated books in the future.
