Amanda Johns is a longtime friend and advocate for so many in the Green Cove Springs community. I have worked with Amanda for 10 years and have witnessed her example of faith, strength, and grace through many trials in recent years. She never misses the opportunity to help others in need.

Now it is time for us to help Amanda and her family as she battles stage 4 cancer. Amanda has a history of asthma, and when she started having shortness of breath a few months back, she was treated for asthma. When it did not respond to usual treatments, she had a chest x-ray that revealed multiple nodules throughout the lungs. She was admitted to the hospital, and it was discovered that the cancer started without symptoms in the colon, stage 4, and had spread to the lungs. She has just started her second round of chemo and is tolerating it well so far. She has amazing doctors that are encouraging her both physically and spiritually. She also has amazing support from her husband, Lee, who is also working to support the costs of treatment and care for the love of his life. Their daughter, Erin, a senior at Clay High, has been amazing and accompanies Amanda to treatments and cooks meals for the family. All of this support from so many extended family and friends has been so encouraging to Amanda, Lee, and Erin.

Costs for treatment are building, and there is a lot that insurance does not cover. This is where I know that all of us who love Amanda and her beautiful family can help. Every little bit helps, and of course, keep praying for the miracle that we are believing for Amanda.
