Hi, I’m Amanda. I live with complex chronic illness, confirmed Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, iron-deficiency anemia, chronic pelvic pain, migraines, and chronic spine and joint pain. In 2019, I was hit by a car while walking and suffered multiple fractures that required two ankle surgeries. Since then I’ve lived with chronic pain, tendon damage, osteoarthritis, and limited mobility.

I have insurance, but it isn’t enough. Many specialists and tests are out-of-network or self-pay only, and even with insurance I currently owe over $4,000 in medical bills, with more care needed to get answers and manage my conditions.

I also run Chronic Illness Crew, a free virtual chronic illness book club and peer-support space. I show up for others in this community every day — and right now, I need help too.
