On the night of Wednesday, September 1, Tropical Storm Ida caused unprecedented levels of flooding in New Jersey. Our apartment complex was hit hard by this storm, and we lost our cars, instruments, and home for the time being. The water levels rose so high that both of our cars were completely submerged by water for about 12 hours and are now totaled. We were trapped in our second-floor apartment with water flooding in for the entire night. As our lower neighbors' floors started to cave in due to the flooding, and the 911 line as well as the local police number were down for the whole night, we were unsure what the rest of the night would hold, but we are extremely fortunate to be safe. As two full-time college students and musicians who also work a combined total of six jobs, this has been extremely detrimental to us. We were forced to evacuate our apartment yesterday and are currently working on getting back on our feet after this experience. This money will not fully cover the expenses of temporary housing plus the two cars, instruments, and other belongings that were damaged, but it will greatly assist us in getting started. Any help would be much appreciated!
