Hi, my name is Kyla and I am fundraising for my sister Amanda and her son River. They lost their home in the Bald Range wildfire in Faulder, BC.
For the past 10 years, their home was so much more than a house. It was where Amanda and River built their lives together. It was their haven and where they created a decade of memories, stability, and a life they loved.
When they were forced to leave because of the wildfire, they were able to take only the clothes they were wearing and a few of their pets. They had to leave behind their home and almost everything they owned.
But Amanda's story isn't just about what she has lost. It's about who she is and the lives she has spent years helping change.
Here is a passage from the Executive Director of the Penticton and Area Overdose Prevention Society about Amanda and her work:
« “Amanda is one of the most genuine and compassionate people I know. She came into my life in 2021 as a volunteer with the Penticton and Area Overdose Prevention Society. Over the past five years, she has grown into the role of Case Management Coordinator.
Amanda has endured many traumas throughout her life and has the amazing ability to turn her personal experiences into a light for others. She truly is a soul that is meant to lead others out of darkness.
Over the last two years alone, Amanda has supported approximately 40 people in finding housing—people who were often considered ‘unsuitable for housing.’ She became a fierce advocate for them, helping connect them with the support, resources, and skills
they needed to prove that narrative wrong.
She doesn't just advocate for people. She believes in them.” »
Now, my sister Amanda is the one who needs help.
She is facing the overwhelming task of finding a new home and replacing the clothing, furniture, household necessities, and countless personal belongings they lost. Our hope is that this fundraiser can give Amanda some financial stability while she navigates this incredibly difficult time.
Amanda has spent years standing beside people through some of the darkest moments of their lives. She has fought for people who were overlooked.
Now it is our turn to stand beside her.
The money raised will help Amanda and River find a new place to call home, replace the necessities they lost, and begin rebuilding the life they worked so hard to create over the last decade.
No donation is too small. Every contribution will help ease some of the financial burden and allow Amanda to focus on what matters most: her son, her pets, and rebuilding their lives.
If you aren't in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much to us. Every share helps us reach someone who may be able to help.
Thank you for reading Amanda's story, for standing beside her, and for helping her and her son find their way forward.
After spending so much of her life giving to others; it’s her turn to receive
