Help Aman Survive Graduation
Donation protected
Hey Family!
I hope all is well. Many of you may not know but, I am graduating from UCLA in a couple of weeks (yay)! Yes, I know. I have not been so good about sharing the news of this milestone and for that I do apologize. But I'm letting you know now and I need your help.
As you may have seen, I was selected as a Leadership Alliance Mellon Initiative (LAMI) fellow at NYU (New York University) this Summer. This is a terrific opportunity for me to conduct research, meet other young scholars of color, connect with faculty, and overall strengthen my portfilio as I prepare to apply to PhD programs this Fall. This program was literally created with me in mind and I am so excited to participate.
Unfortunately, I am having some financial difficulty covering it all. Graduations are expensive y'all! Here's the thing: 1) The program starts June 4th (this Sunday!) and my graduation is not until June 17th, which means I need to figure out securing airfaire to get back to LA from NYC in order to walk the stage (this is not an expense covered by the program). 2) It has also been brought to my attention that although I receive a stipend from the program it is not disbursed until a few weeks after the start of the program (which I was not made aware of until recently). NYC is very expensive and I do not have the financial means to support myself for weeks without income. Here's where you come in.
If you could help me out with a donation of any amount (maybe consider it a graduation gift) it would really offer me some relief and help me to enjoy what should be a celebratory, joyful time in my life. If you cannot, I understand; times are difficult for many of us. Perhaps, you might consider sharing the link to this campaign instead? In any case, I appreciate you for reading and hope you will consider. I am truly very grateful to be in community with you all. Thank you!
