Dear friends,
I am Amal, a mother of two children with strong ambition and perseverance. Over the past five years, I have worked tirelessly in the crochet profession and devoted myself to my family.
I chose this profession because I could not secure an official job in my country (Gaza) in the field of education, despite having a bachelor’s degree in that field. I created my own brand on Instagram (amal_crochetshop),
which grew and gained thousands of followers, all expressing admiration for my work.

I was happy despite the low financial returns, as it was my only source of income. It allowed me to provide for my children’s daily needs and fulfill a few of their desires. Then came October 7, a dark day when our lives were turned upside down.

I lost my home and my project when my house was bombed and burned down . Today, my children and I live in a tent that doesn’t protect us from the summer heat or winter cold, with poor sanitation and a miserable life amid many insects. We eat unhealthy food and drink non-potable water under constant random shelling every day.

As I navigate this new reality, I feel a mix of sadness and determination. I am committed to taking care of my children and educating them by reviving my project and leaving my beloved country to seek a dignified life elsewhere. Together, we can ensure the return of my project and our evacuation to a safer country. As of late December, evacuation fees range between $8,000 and $10,000 per person, excluding processing and transport fees, and we will pay the minimum amount because we do not have passports.

My family and I are requesting $50,000 based on the following breakdown: Evacuation fees at the Egyptian border range from $8,000 to $10,000 per person, with different fees each day, plus a processing fee of $2,000 for transport and a 2.9% commission fee. Any amount collected beyond the total will be used to support my family and me as refugees in Egypt.
