About Amal and Her Family (2 babies and her husband):
Amal Muhammad is a 22-year-old Palestinian woman and mother who has managed to survive in Gaza for over a year with her family of six: her husband, her young newborn baby Leo, and toddler Mariana, who was born in December 2023. They initially lived in the North, were displaced to Rafah, and had to move again with the invasion of Rafah last May, incurring high costs to pay for transportation and resettling in a new camp at Deir al Balah. After another couple of displacements, they are now trying to survive in the South.
What is the Money Needed For?
Amal is a mother of 2 children, one of them, baby Leo, born in July 2025. The funds are essential for her and her family's basic survival needs. They will be purchasing clean drinking water, water for washing, food 1 toddler (Mariana) and one baby: diapers, and baby formula. Prices are extremely high due to a strong blockade of humanitarian aid; to give an idea:
1 bottle of milk: $30
Baby formula: $50+
1 kg of flour: starting from $50
Canned food (chickpeas, lentils): $7-9 each
Shampoo: $40 | Soap: $7
Detergent: $40 | Baby shampoo: $30
Diapers (40 units): $100
Newborn clothes: starting from $30
Baby bed: ranges from $100 to $200
How Does the Money Reach Them?
Amal's mother has an account with the Bank of Palestine, allowing Amal and her family to thankfully access the funds essential for their survival. Each time they receive a transfer, Amal can access the money through merchants, who, unfortunately, charge a 30-40% commission, especially now with the situation that keeps getting worse also in terms of access of basic products.
Without donations, they have no income. They have had no income for over 2 years since the aggression began, so this fundraiser is their lifeline.
