This is Amal. She is my student, and I am creating for the first time a GoFundMe for a very special young lady. The following is from Amal’s mother.

“My world is shattered, my heart is breaking, and my every waking moment is consumed by the desperate need to save my daughter's life. Last week, the doctors at CHOP delivered a devastating diagnosis: her hips are severely dislocated, and her spine is curved to a life-threatening degree, putting unbearable pressure on her fragile lungs.

The road ahead is treacherous, the surgery is high-risk, and the stakes are higher than words can express. But I'm not giving up.

I'm fighting with every fiber of my being to give my daughter a chance at life. We've been told that a custom-made wheelchair could be the difference between life and... something unbearable. But the cost is $16,000, and insurance will only cover $2,000, leaving us with an impossible $14,000 gap.

As a mother, it's heartbreaking to ask for help, but I'm fighting for my daughter's life. I'd do anything to save my child. Every day is a struggle to access the services she needs. Children with disabilities are just as beautiful, but they need help to spread their wings. Her smile, her laughter, her every struggle is etched in my mind, and I'll fight to the end of my days to give her the life she deserves.

We are raising money to provide Amal with a new wheelchair that will support her spine and not cause any further damage to her lungs. She will still need surgery; however, the wheelchair will allow her to attend school, spend time out of bed, and live as normal a life as she can until the inevitable surgery.
