Help Alyssa Stay In The Bay

Hi, my name is Alyssa. A little over a year now, I was laid off from my job as a software engineer at LinkedIn. Over this past year, I've interviewed at DoorDash, Amazon, Meta, Google, and a wide array of other smaller companies and startups -- getting to the final round on multiple occasions. Additionally, I've been building my skillset and resume during this downtime through personal projects and attempts at acquiring startup funding, once being informed that we had *just* narrowly missed the mark, being in the top 10% of applicants.

However, my nest eggs are run through, my housing situation is no longer stable, and I'm essentially facing homelessness if I do not return to Appalachia. I've been living in the bay area for over seven years now, and transitioned since living here. A return to that area, a town of 600 in the Blue Ridge Mountains would be devastating, and honestly pretty scary given the political state of our country.

I have a few couches that I plan to rotate through over the next few weeks, in addition to some non-perishable food donated by some very generous friends. After that, I really don't know what I'm going to do.

Any funds raised for this GoFundMe will go directly towards housing and food costs. I will be providing monthly updates to this page breaking down the way this money is being budgeted (I'll be keeping and posting a ledger of amounts remaining, amount spent and on what) and my job search/living situation updates. I'm hoping to stay afloat for at least a couple of months while I work through a few more interview cycles -- currently I'm interviewing at Meta for an IC4 position.
