My name is Jason Gillaspie and I have never created a GoFundMe page, but the time has come to reach out to family and friends. Our daughter, Alyssa (Gillaspie) Edwards is fighting cancer at only 34 years old. Currently, Alyssa and her husband Brian Edwards are stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. They have given almost 20 years of service to our country, with Brian making numerous flights into war zones and Alyssa at home worrying about him. This time, the worry has switched sides. Alyssa has been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma on her vocal cords. She has lost her voice completely, which means it has reached Stage 2.

Alyssa and Brian live in Dover; however, she is required to travel to Philadelphia, PA, and New Jersey for all of her appointments, face-to-face informational meetings, and treatment. Today, on 09-04-25, Alyssa is in New Jersey having a PET scan completed. Though we don't know what it will show, we do know she will be facing radiation and chemo treatments. This requires at least a 7-week stay in Philadelphia as treatments will be daily. A huge thank you to the United States Air Force for allowing Brian to be with her every step of the way.

Alyssa and Brian do have insurance, but for a military spouse, it's just not as good. They will also have their own travel expenses for at least the rest of the year. As a father, I am asking that you help Alyssa and Brian with some of the financial burden they are facing and/or keep them in your prayers. They have never asked anything from anyone and have served our country without any expectations of a return.

Please share our outreach as I know Alyssa has friends from Iowa, California, Oklahoma, and Delaware. As a father, I thank you in advance for anything you can do to help. With prayers and the ability to do it without so much financial worry, she will beat this.
