My name is Jhoana, and I am a single mother to my incredible 14-year-old daughter, Alyssa.

Alyssa was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and despite the challenges she faces, she is an exceptionally talented, creative, and determined young girl. Art is her passion and her voice — it’s how she expresses herself and connects with the world.

Throughout her school years, Alyssa has faced bullying multiple times. As a mother, it was heartbreaking to watch, but what truly inspires me is her resilience. She refused to give up. She continues to go to school with courage, determination, and a genuine love for learning.

Alyssa has had a clear dream from a very young age. Since Year 3, she has talked about studying art at university. She independently researched schools and surprised me by already looking into entry requirements at such a young age. Her dream is to attend the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in London, a highly respected but very expensive institution.

In just a few years, Alyssa will be heading to university. The cost of studying at ARU London is significant, and as a single mother who works hard just to make ends meet, I worry constantly about how I will be able to support her future. I do not want her to start adulthood burdened with student loans, especially while navigating life with ASD.

I have saved what I can for Alyssa, but I am afraid it won’t be enough. Thinking about her future scares me — not because I doubt her abilities, but because I don’t want financial limitations to stand in the way of her dreams.

This fundraiser is to help support Alyssa’s education and future needs. Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated and will be placed directly into Alyssa’s bank account for her university education.
