Help Us Get A Place To Live

Hi everyone,

I decided to set up a GoFundMe for this awful unfortunate situation me and my partner are in.

[UPDATE: It’s been almost 2 months and we still haven’t been able to find an apartment. We really did not expect it to take this long.
We were hoping to find someone looking for roommates and have a new place to call home within a few weeks.
But every person I’ve found either doesn’t  allow pets (which I have nowhere else for my cat to stay, I don’t have any of my family here) or they don’t accept couples.

So even finding a roommate situation has been a struggle, and our best bet and most comfortable situation for us anyways would be to get our own apartment again. Especially since I own an online shop, I need enough space to store inventory, to take photos of clothes, to package orders, etc. 

Right now we’ve been living out of a suitcase, crashing at friends/families, sleeping on couches and air mattresses, or guest rooms.

I’m grateful to even have a temporary place to sleep right now, but I had to unfortunately close down my online shop (which is my main source of income and how I pay for my bills, food, etc.) because of this situation.

I tried to keep it up because I desperately need the income, but not having a stable place to live has caused my mental health to get worse, especially with all of the stress I’ve been going through, plus still having everything I own (including all of my shop inventory) packed and stored away, has made it impossible for me to get orders out in time.
Once I have a stable place to live and have the space to have all of my shop inventory with me, I’ll be able to open up my shop and start making good money again. But for now, my only source of income is instagram which is barely even enough for groceries.]



That’s all for the update. If you want to know what happened in January, here’s the story:

For those of you that don’t know, we just got evicted because of an issue with a rent payment that we weren’t aware of, and got no warnings from our apartment management about the eviction. 

They gave less than 24 hours to pack up and get out. They claimed this was because I didn’t show up to court, yet I was never even given a court date. I wasn’t even aware we were in the process of getting evicted in the first place.

Them knocking at my door at 5PM saying I have to return my keys or they’ll change the locks by tomorrow since I missed the court date, was the first I heard of it.

 

This isn’t legal AT ALL but I can’t afford to hire an attorney. And either way I can’t afford to pay what I now owe for rent here, with all the ridiculous fees that has been added on. With all the fees I would owe about 3xs what my rent actually is if I were to stay here. If I had that much money I could buy a whole new much better and bigger apartment.

There’s no way out of the eviction at this point. We stayed up all night to pack up everything and stuffed it in our small car. Threw away all of our furniture. And I have no idea where I’m going to be sleeping from now on. We’ll hopefully find a place to stay soon, but rent prices are extremely high right now and it’s going to be a struggle to find a new place that we can afford.
