In the early hours of February 18th, Alyce’s family car was stolen and deliberately set on fire. By the time emergency services extinguished the blaze, it had been completely destroyed along with everything inside it.

For most people, losing a car is stressful. For Alyce and the seven people who rely on her every day, it has been devastating.

If you know Alyce, you know she is the person who shows up. She steps in when others need help, opens her home, gives her time, and supports people without hesitation. She is always the one offering help — never the one asking for it.

Alyce is a single mum and the sole income earner for her household. She supports her children — including two on the autism spectrum — cares for a foster child with additional needs, and helps look after her ageing father who lives with dementia. On top of that, she works in disability support, spending her days helping other families navigate challenges and build independence.

Unfortunately, a series of incredibly unfortunate circumstances has left her facing something she simply cannot manage alone.

That mistake has now left Alyce responsible for nearly $60,000 in debt for a vehicle that no longer exists.

A vehicle for Alyce isn’t a luxury — it is essential. It allows her to get children to school, attend medical and therapy appointments, support her father, and most importantly continue working to provide for her family and the clients who rely on her support services.

Without a car, she cannot work. Without work, seven people lose stability.

Anyone who knows Alyce knows she would never ask for help herself. She has spent years being the person others lean on — supporting vulnerable young people, opening her home through foster care, and putting everyone else first.

Right now, she needs people to rally around her.

**What the funds will be used for**

Funds raised through this page will go directly toward helping Alyce and her family regain stability after the devastating loss of their vehicle. This includes:

• Paying out the existing loan attached to the destroyed car

• Contributing toward purchasing a replacement vehicle so Alyce can continue working and caring for her family

• Covering loss of income during this incredibly difficult period

• Replacing essential personal items that were lost in the fire

Alyce had third-party fire and theft insurance on the vehicle. However, during an already overwhelming period, a few payments were missed. Living pay check to pay check while juggling work, children, caring responsibilities and countless daily emails, she hadn’t realised the policy had been cancelled back in December. It wasn’t until she went to lodge the claim after the car was destroyed that she discovered the policy was no longer active.
