Help Alyana Pace & kids rebuild after house fire.

Dear friends,

Please meet my sister, Yana Pace of Waldorf, Maryland. She is a hardworking, single mother of two young daughters, Nala 16, and Lyvi 6…and one adult son Mekhi 21. She’ s also a longtime homeowner, local business owner, and beloved member of her church and community.

On the evening of Tuesday December 8, 2020, their home caught fire and is now uninhabitable. Fortunately, Yana and her daughters were not home that evening.  They happened to be away visiting our other sister in Virginia. Her son, however, was  home that evening with the family dog, "DeeDee". Thankfully, he and the dog got out,  and other than her son’s emotional scars, they are both OK.

"This ordeal has changed me. I feel closer to God than ever before in my life." Yana says of the incident. "My church family, family members,  and friends are holding us up."

They have since returned to Maryland and must live in temporary housing provided by her insurance until their home is safe and up to code. This could take months.

Like many of us, Yana, a beauty salon owner and cosmetologist, has been unable to work as consistently as she normally would due to the pandemic and has already taken a tremendous hit financially. But since the fire, she and her children have lost many of their possessions and must now rebuild.  Yana must still provide for her kids and return to work at some point. Nala and Lyvi must continue to attend remote school online for the duration of the school year after experiencing this traumatic event.  Not to mention, these children will have to spend the holidays in an unfamiliar space.

We are all so grateful that no lives were lost and that no one was physically harmed in this incident. Thankfully, the home is covered by insurance. Our church family, family members, and friends have already been so generous,  so we know that brighter days are ahead! Thanks to everyone who has already opened their heart to support.

We are also very appreciative of all the family and friends who have reached out to help. So, in order to keep Yana and her family safe during this overwhelmingly traumatic time in their lives, we are starting this fund to have a place that we can all rally around the family and uplift them with love, support, community, and the supplemental financial assistance that they will need to recover. Your contributions will help provide this loving family with food, clothing, bills, transportation, etc., and maybe a Christmas gift or two for the kids!

In these uncertain times, we understand that so many of our community members and loved ones are not in a place to give to others at the moment. However, if you are able to contribute any amount to our fund to help my sister, your gift would be so deeply appreciated by our family. Thank you.

With Gratitude,
