Hello, my name is Alya Lotus Tayfun. I’m a 19-year-old transgender woman from Turkey. Since early childhood, I have suffered from severe gender dysphoria. Every day in this body feels like a prison, and I can no longer bear the pain of living in an identity that does not align with who I truly am.
After coming out, I was kicked out of my family home and left without any support. In Turkey, being an openly trans woman means living in constant fear. Trans women here face discrimination, violence, police brutality, and daily threats. We have almost no legal protection or recognition, and many trans people are denied access to basic rights like healthcare, education, and employment. Simply existing as myself is dangerous.
I have received multiple death threats and live in fear for my safety. My only way forward is to complete my medical transition and gain legal gender recognition—something I can only achieve after bottom surgery. This surgery is not cosmetic; it is a life-saving necessity. It will allow me to change my legal documents, which means I can finally live more safely and freely in society.
I am fundraising to afford this surgery and to take a vital step toward a life where I am seen, respected, and legally recognized. Without it, my mental health continues to suffer. I struggle daily with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts due to untreated dysphoria.
This campaign is my last hope. If you can help—whether by donating or sharing—your support will bring me closer to the life I’ve been fighting for since I was a child.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love,
Alya Lotus Tayfun
