Help Aly with top surgery!

Hi friends and strangers!

 

My name is Aly (she/they), and I am a 28 years old nonbinary Texan. For the past 10+ years, I have struggled with body insecurity entirely related to the size of my chest. I had my first breast reduction at 19 and experienced relatively brief euphoria at the ability to wear clothing I felt good in and not hate the top half of my body. I'm 5' even, so it was nice to have a chest that seemed to fit the rest of me.

 

Unfortunately, as breasts do, they grew again. Coupled with the beginning of the pandemic and stress eating, they're bigger than they were before my initial breast reduction, and I am back to feeling even more depressed and uneasy about my figure. I've known in my head for quite some time now that I needed to have this complete surgery done in order to achieve the happiness I deserved. I dream about not needing to wear too-tight binders and no longer crying to myself in the bathroom or the dressing room because of how disproportionate I feel.

 

I met with Dr. Peter Raphael at the American Institute for Plastic Surgery in Plano, Texas. Whenever I listened to others talk about their top surgery, it was at this center. So I bit the bullet and made a consult appointment. From the very beginning Dr. Raphael and the staff at the center made me feel like I was being heard. I wasn't being critiqued on my decision nor was I being told what they thought I should do. I was informed on the entire process from beginning to after surgery and I was given a clear breakdown of costs.

 

The center does not accept insurance for a surgery like this, so everything excluding prescriptions must be paid out of pocket. And while the cost is a lot less than I expected, I don't have that pocket change. So I am asking you to help me.

 

The all-inclusive cost I was given is $7750. This cost includes: surgical charge, operating room, anesthesia, and supplies. The deposit for my surgery date is $750. My entire balance is due at the date of pre-op which happens about a week before the surgery.

 

I currently work as a contractor and therefore do not qualify for benefits such as PTO or vacation days. Therefore any days that I am out of work will be unpaid. I am asking for a majority coverage of my surgery so that I will have the additional income to pay for my rent ($1660), my car payment ($250), and my health insurance ($200) on top of making sure my cat is taken care of while I am incapacitated and any extra costs while I am unable to drive or perform basic functions under my medication. I've been through this before and I know how absolutely useless I'll be for at least a week out, but I am hoping to have someone to take care of me during that time.

 

Please know that I will still be working leading up to AND after the completion of this GoFundMe. Any extra funds raised once the GoFundMe has been funded will be donated to another top surgery GoFundMe.
