Hi. My name is Julie and Aly and I need your help. Asking people for money was not on my list of things to do yesterday, but all that changed with one phone call.
Yesterday Aly drove her car to Kent station and took the Sounder Train to school at Aveda on Capitol Hill. At about noon, she got a phone call that her car had been stolen and then totaled. If that isn’t horrible enough, Aly’s biological mother had been insuring the car, and it turns out she only had the bare minimum coverage in the state of Washington. Aly bought and paid for this car with her own money that she received when her biological father passed away. This was her first car and the only thing she had left from him. But because she was a minor when she purchased the car, it was in her biological mother‘s name and Aly was on her car insurance.
There are reasons Aly does not live with her biological mother and many of you close to her know what they are. But it came as no surprise to us that she is not going to financially replace the car for Aly, despite the fact that Aly paid for it with her own money.
Aly came to live with me and be a part of our family two years ago. She is going to school full-time and working part-time. It has been my pleasure bringing her into our family. But coming up with the funds to replace her car is definitely going to be a financial hardship. She needs something reliable. So, here we are.
Please spread this story because the more people who see it the more assistance we can get and it’s less of a burden on everyone who is willing to help.
I appreciate each and everyone of you who can contribute even a dollar. I am grateful for my daughter Haley who is sharing her car with Aly right now, and I have rented a car for Haley (thankful she’s old enough to drive a rental!) to drive while we raise funds and look for a replacement car for Aly.
Needless to say, I will be buying this car and Aly will be on my insurance moving forward. Lesson learned.
Again, anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated ❤️
