Help Alvin McCully After Losing a Leg

As many of you know Alvin (Al) has been a beloved member at North Causeway Marine for 20 years. Many of you have known him from various other jobs he's had in the community. Everyone agrees that he is one of the most likable guys on this entire planet.  He is the definition of a 'give a shirt off his back guy', doing anything needed to help anyone in need; now it is time for us to return the favor. About a year and a half ago, Al had received a shot of cortisol in his hip to hold him over for a hip replacement. The shot caused an allergic reaction where his leg doubled in size and that's where the real problems started. This caused arteries in his leg to fail to require countless surgeries to counteract this. None of these surgeries were successful in solving these problems. His leg ended up losing blood flow and his leg had to be amputated. He is now in need of our help. My name is Mark Pernell I am a local Business owner in New Smyrna Beach (North Causeway Marine and Precision Bldrs, Inc. a local Construction Company), and Alvin has worked for me for the past 20 years at North Causeway Marine. During the time Alvin was hospitalized my wife and I started going to his house to feed Al's precious cats. It was then we discovered his current living conditions were pretty bad. Al hasn't had a proper running water system for over 2 years, which might have contributed to his poor health. The floors in his home were collapsing due to plumbing leaks between his kitchen and bathroom. We are using the funds raised to basically remodel his home to fix these issues and make it handicap accessible. I will be withdrawing the money into my construction account to help pay for all the construction costs. So far we have installed a new well water system, located and pumped his septic tank, replace a spiral stair system with a conventional stair system so he can get to his loft, Install new handicap accessible front deck with new concrete driveway pad, new back deck, replaced the partial floor system that was failing, gutted and replaced kitchen with new cabinets and appliances, gutted and re-sized the bathroom and installed a new tile shower, vanity and plumbing fixtures. New floors and rugs have been installed throughout. Total construction costs to date have exceeded $30,000.00

This page was updated with expenditure purposing, as part of the obligatory detailing requirements of the GoFundMe site. Upon moving back into his new renovated home on May 18, 2021, Alvin wants to say to everyone "Thank you all. I just can't believe it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
