Hi, My name is Alvin and for the past three years, I’ve been fighting cancer while continuing to work and support myself as a disabled flight attendant. In 2025, my journey took another unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with lymphedema in my left leg.
Due to the pressure changes that occur during flight, I’m no longer able to safely perform my job. My short-term disability benefits have ended, I do not qualify for long-term disability, and I’m currently on unpaid medical leave while still paying out of pocket for my health insurance.
To keep up with bills, I’ve been driving Uber excessively, driving 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Ive added more than 5000 miles per month on my car, exceeding what the average person drives in a year, I've done in the last three months. Unfortunately, sitting for long hours causes severe fluid buildup in my leg, making the swelling worse and slowing my recovery. My doctors have advised that continuing this is working against my health.
I’m raising funds to cover myself for the next 3-6 months including:
- Cover medical insurance and treatment expenses
- Seek holistic and supportive care to aid healing
- Transition to organic food and body products to reduce inflammation
- Reduce driving Uber so I can focus on recovery
This support would allow me to stop pushing my body past its limits and instead focus on healing and creating long-term stability.
If you’re able to donate or share this page, I am deeply grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer.
With gratitude,
Alvin
