Three years ago, our family experienced unimaginable loss when our son Onyx passed away at just two years old from brain cancer. His older brother Jade was devastated, and a year later, we brought home two puppies—Althea, a yorkie, and Ace, a golden doodle—to help Jade heal and bring some joy back into our lives.
On Sunday, while at Jade's school event, one of the puppies jumped onto the counter and got ahold of a brand new bottle of extra strength vitamin D. Both Althea and Ace ate the entire bottle and have been fighting for their lives all week. The vets recommended 24-hour care, but the upfront cost was more than we could afford. We took out credit and paid for what we could manage, which was outpatient fluids. For the last four days, we've been doing outpatient fluids, but Althea's blood calcium levels have gone up significantly, and we're deeply concerned for her life and the risk of permanent kidney failure.
The cost of giving fluids and blood work for just five days has already stretched our finances. The funds raised will help us pay off what we've spent so far and allow us to continue providing the care Althea and Ace need to survive. Anything you can contribute would mean the world to our family and help us give Althea and Ace the care they desperately need.
