My name is Aloysious Tumusiime, and I am from Uganda. In April 2022, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Business and Trade at the African Leadership University (ALU) Rwanda.

Before and while at university, I actively engaged in volunteer, professional, and community development organizations, including the Rotaract Club of ALU Rwanda, where I served as a project and vocations director. We executed the Women In Entrepreneurship Project (W.I.E.). W.I.E. equips women living with disabilities with entrepreneurial skills and provides them with accessible financing options for their economic empowerment. Today, the project has scaled to 60 beneficiaries in two provinces of Rwanda. These, combined with other personal experiences, guided my interest in pursuing postgraduate studies in a humanitarian field.

Whereas I was confident and ready for this next step in my academic life, I wasn't sure if I would find the financial capabilities to do so. I applied to several postgraduate schools and was admitted to the prestigious London School of Economics. This admission came with a scholarship to study my priority programme MSc International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies.

However, the challenge is that I still need support to get to London, settle and start my studies by September. I need $5000 to help me offset my visa, tests, flight, laptop, and other school and living expenses. This assistance will indeed be a direct investment in my academic journey and an indirect hand to all the people whose lives I hope to shape favourably.

After graduate school, I aim to work with non-governmental organizations in education policy advocacy and poverty alleviation to create cost-effective and context-based solutions that include the unique development needs of underprivileged African communities.
