They say your life can change in a blink of an eye. This is exactly what happened to Alondra Mejorado, my very best friend’s daughter.
Alondra went to a checkup when they discovered a polyp. She had uterus polyp removal surgery on August 30, 2019. Doctors sent the polyp for a biopsy which came back positive for cancer. Being that she is a healthy young woman, doctors didn’t want to take the risk of overlooking for other cancerous cells; therefore, a lot of testing took place and the results where beyond devastating. They found out cervix cancer as well. After several meetings with the doctors, different tests, different opinions, and foremost the waiting time for all the results, the determination to remove the cervix was taken with a heavy heart. Alondra is a young lady who has no children yet and the decision to do a hysterectomy, which left her with ovaries only. Cancer was removed and everything was sent for biopsy. Doctors even requested a second opinion from a Boston hospital. Finally, results got back and were shocked as they tested positive for a rare type of cancer called “Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma.”
Her life changed dramatically, going from being a 23-year-old girl with so many plans ahead of her, working hard, helping her mom, and attending school to being hit with this news and being confronted with tough decisions and the financial burden that all these implies.
She had to stop working as she will be going under chemotherapy and radiation treatment for about seven months. Her mom has to be on and off work in order to accommodate the treatment and therapy schedules.
Many of our friends and family members have started to reach out and have asked how they can help out. This page was put together as a result of your outreach and concern and is just one way we can assist. There are significant financial ramifications that come along with battling cancer. The funds collected will help with all aspects of her treatment.
If you are blessed enough to be in position where you can donate to help Alondra and her mom beat cancer, it will be greatly appreciated.
TOGETHER WE WILL AL PRAY AND FIGHT SIDE BY SIDE WITH THEM AS ONE BIG FAMILY!
