Help Alok with Living Costs (After Loss)
Donation protected
Our dear friend Alok recently faced the devastating loss of their cousin Michelle (Miche), who unexpectedly passed at 44 due to complications from COVID and RSV. Miche was Alok’s only family connection and primary support system. This loss, along with the loss of their assisted living space and financial safety net, leaves Alok with a difficult journey ahead.
In addition to the grief, Alok faces ongoing health challenges and chronic disabilities that prevent them from working full-time. They plan to move to Toronto in early July to be closer to a larger support network of friends, but this means they will lose assisted income after June. While Alok is actively seeking a remote job, they need time to regain stability and rebuild their life.
We are urgently raising funds to cover moving costs and basic living expenses for the next couple of months, as this will provide the crucial support Alok needs to regain stability.
We’re aiming to raise $6,500 to help Alok with:
- One-way flight to Toronto + baggage: approx. $300
- Moving company costs from Regina to Toronto: approx. $1,000
- Portable air purifier (essential for Alok’s immunocompromised health): $100
- Three months of living expenses (approx. $900 rent, $150 utilities, $200 groceries, $100 phone, $150 transit pass): $4,500
- Therapy & medical care: approx. $600
Alok has shown incredible resilience and has always been there for others, offering love, care, and support during our darkest times—even when they had little. Now, it’s our turn to offer the same.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page with others is also deeply appreciated. Thank you for supporting Alok during this incredibly difficult time.
