Short Story: As many of you know, Alma was recently diagnosed with ESS, a rare form of cancer that occurs due to abnormal and uncontrolled cell growth in the uterus. ESS constituting only about 0.2% of all uterine malignancies. Endometrial stromal sarcoma develops in the inner lining of blood vessels and lymph vessels and can be found anywhere in the body. In Alma’s case, it happens to be in her uterus; in the hopes we can manage any further spreading into the body.

Long Story: On April 11th, 2022 Alma’s life turned upside down, in just a few moments of hearing from her OBGYN, that she was diagnosed with Uterine cancer. Not understanding what this was, she felt confused, frankly at a loss. While Alma thought her initial surgery (major abdominal myectomy) was going to be the final one after removing a fibroid, that was causing her excruciating pain, she now is in a situation where her life is at risk, and has to make a tough decision to removing her uterus at age 35; in the hopes we can manage the cancer to not spread elsewhere in the body. Alma had hopes to conceiving and carrying her own child, it’s something her fiancé and her talked about for some time now. A symbol of their love! Sadly, that opportunity has been taken from her. These Go Fund Me donations will be used to help Alma bridge the gap to cover medical expenses, oncology fertility treatments, and necessary medical equipment.

Alma is a compassionate, emphatic, genuine, dedicated, and committed Montessori Educator who has devoted the past 10 years of her life, touching the lives of young children. This is Alma’s passion, and she is so good at playing this role. At this time she has stepped away from being with her students, and misses them so much. She always says,” my students bring me so much joy, I forget about the outside world, they are completely pure and innocent.”

Before all of this, Alma’s life consisted of maintaining an active lifestyle, by doing yoga, running, beach walks, practicing breathing techniques, and anything that involves having a healthy life as much as possible. She even took a course for “Prenatal-Postnatal Fitness Specialist,” to learn more how the body changes during pregnancy. She loves being playful with her fiancé, and is so grateful to have a partner who has been so supportive in this journey since day one. She loves spending quality time with family, but also values moments of solidarity. Alma loves to spend time connecting with Mother Nature, surrounded by birds, trees, beautiful skies, and animals. She believes animals are great companions for better healing. Her motto is,” laughing is my medicine.”
