Help Allyson with Medical Costs

Donation protected
In the midst of so many ups and downs this past year, my family was met with an unanticipated and urgent medical crisis. After experiencing extreme pain in her hip and leg, causing her to be unable to walk, my sister-in-law Allyson, was taken into the emergency room. She was unexpectedly hospitalized for two weeks and received a diagnosis of a serious infection in her aortic valve caused by bacteria from a dental procedure. The infection led to acutely painful blood clots in both her spleen and her leg. As a result, part of her spleen has ‘died’ causing her incredible pain. The blood clot in her leg required surgery and has affected blood flow to her foot. This is also very painful.

Her first step in a journey towards recovery requires immediate and intensive open-heart surgery to replace the valve. The surgery will take place at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) next week. Following the surgery , Allyson will be in recovery for 6 months + . She has been told by her doctor that she will be unable to work until the end of July 2022, at the earliest.

Allyson is a self-employed esthetician and this diagnosis and looming recovery has forced her to close her business. Because she is self-employed she has limited medical coverage and her business has already been financially affected due to past Covid restrictions . She is facing not only a rigorous recovery, but mounting medical expenses. This daunting ordeal has weighed on her not only physically , but emotionally. She is one of the most hard-working, generous, and resilient people I know, but this has been an exhausting and traumatic experience. My family and I want to do all we can to alleviate any added pressures during this difficult time.

As many have expressed a desire to help provide some relief for Allyson, I have started a go-fund-me with the hope that this will facilitate a way to do so –any monetary donation will go towards medical expenses and post-op recovery – including a recliner chair (important for sleeping and resting after open-heart surgery). We are extremely touched by the support of those who have reached out with intentions to help and well-wishes. If you are unable to donate, regardless please keep Allyson in your thoughts and prayers. If you feel inclined and comfortable doing so- please share the link to the go-fund-me page to help spread awareness of her condition and current needs.

Allyson is strong and eager to recover and move forward in good health. I’ve been so impressed by her as she is meeting this with courage, gratitude, and humor. Thank you for your time and efforts in sharing this message and giving service how you are able – we love you all!
