Help Allyson Get to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Hi everyone!
My name is Allyson Tellez, and I’m an alumni of Nixon Drama, where I had the privilege of being mentored by Marco Gonzalez and Joe Flores. I’ve recently been given an incredible opportunity: I’ve been invited to join the Vidal M. Treviño (VMT) Theater students as a chaperone for the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland—one of the largest and most prestigious performing arts festivals in the world!
This opportunity means the world to me. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival isn’t just a gathering of artists—it’s a melting pot of creativity, innovation, and groundbreaking performances. It’s a place where artists from across the globe come to showcase their work, and it’s known for inspiring those lucky enough to attend.
During my time in Nixon Drama, I performed in productions such as The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, One Man, Two Guvnors, The Wolves, and The Miracle Worker. These experiences sparked my passion for acting, and they taught me the value of storytelling and the transformative power of theater.
After graduating in 2022, I wasn’t sure if pursuing a career in acting was realistic, but the encouragement and guidance from my mentors helped me find my path. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of performing in productions such as Frankenstein, Hand to God, Zoot Suit, Let the Right One In, and Picasso at the Lapin Agile. I’ve also worked behind the scenes on shows like The Little Mermaid, Matilda, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Currently, I’m the Stage Manager and Light Board Operator in Laredo Theater Guild International’s production of Fool for Love.
This year, I’m taking a huge step forward by applying to universities across the country that specialize in Acting. Marco and Joe believe that attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival will be a pivotal experience for me, offering exposure to world-class performances, new perspectives on the art form, and a deeper connection to the global theater community.
How You Can Help:
The total cost of the trip is $7,300, which covers airfare, accommodations, meals, and festival expenses. While this is a significant financial goal, I’m determined to make it happen with your help.
Any contribution—big or small—will make a difference and help bring me closer to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Your support will not only help fund this trip but also further my journey as an artist. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your network would mean the world to me!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for believing in the power of the arts. Your kindness and generosity will help make this dream a reality!
With gratitude and excitement,
