Help EC Twins pay for 2nd open heart surgery.
Donation protected
I'm Marc (One half of EC Twins) posting on behalf of my twin brother Allister, who is currently in UCLA's INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, yet again, recovering from another massive open heart surgery.
We found out during Covid Quarantine that Allister's previous open heart surgery had not been 100% successful and that he would have to undergo another huge series of procedures.
I can't explain how scared we have been since then, but we continued to work and Allister always tried to put on a brave face publicly.
It took us a long time to accept the severity of the situation. Quite frankly, behind the scenes, Allister and I have been living a private nightmare ever since he was informed that he would have to undergo a second massive surgery.
I walked in here with my brother and we have been living at the hospital for two weeks so far. I refuse to walk out of here without him. I won't leave his side. Obviously open heart surgery is very expensive in the USA and this has been a long process, requiring several stages of treatment, often by world leading specialists.
I'd like my brother to be able to focus solely on his long road to recovery, without being distracted by medical expenses, the cost of hospital stays, recovery & all the stress & financial burden that occurs when rendered with an inability to work & pay bills. The original plan was for me to continue to work & tour alone, until Allister recovers, but until my brother walks out of this hospital I won't either. We've had to postpone a lot of shows and miss out on key dates (such as New Years Eve) and though we have been forced to take a break, unfortunately the bills don't and we still have an entire team to pay. The quarantine had already put a strain on our industry and we didn't have a proper chance to recover fully, since Allister's diagnosis was given to us at the height of the lock down. This is why I've decided to reach out to our friends and ask for whatever support you may be able to offer. If you have the ability to donate it would mean more than words can express. Should you feel so kind, I'd be very grateful if you could share the link to spread the word. With all your support, positivity & love, The EC Twins will be back, full of energy, with huge smiles on our faces, BETTER THAN EVER. I love you all so much and thank you for any form of support you can give.
Allister was born with a very complicated, rare and serious congenital heart defect. This is not a condition that has been caused by lifestyle choices and THANK GOD it is more than likely not something that you will ever experience yourself. We are both straight edge, and always have been. And, though we are known for being obsessed with work, exhaustion has not been the cause either . Allister has had to have a Tricuspid valve replacement, a Glenn Shunt Bypass and a Pacemaker added. We'd also like to say thanks to the entire staff at UCLA for working tirelessly to develop ingenious ways in which to save my brother's life and get him back on track ASAP. Healthcare workers everywhere are our heroes and we are eternally grateful that such people exist in the world!
