I’m Allison, and I’m starting this fundraiser for myself and my family as I prepare for another major back surgery. I was born with a spinal defect called butterfly vertebrae, and in 2013 I had a spinal fusion with two rods placed in my back. After 13 years, those rods are now causing excruciating pain and need to be removed. My surgery is scheduled for September 23, and while I’m grateful to have a path forward, I know recovery will be difficult. I’m an artist, and I earn my living by working markets, but I will be unable to work for about 8 weeks after surgery. That means missing several major markets and losing the income I depend on during that time.
This fundraiser will help cover my medical bills, mortgage payment, and everyday living expenses while I recover. The past year has already been incredibly heavy for my family. Last year, we lost my daughter, Madelyn, at just 9 years old to Batten disease, and we are still trying to catch up financially and get our mortgage back on track after that loss. Asking for help is not easy, but right now I truly need the support. If you’re able to donate, share, or keep us in your thoughts, it would mean so much to me. Your kindness will help give me the chance to heal, recover, and start getting back on my feet after such a difficult season.
