Help Allison Keep Her Home After Having A Severe Stroke

UPDATE **

Allison has made it to the intensive rehabilitation facility! She still has almost no use of her left leg and minimal use of her left arm. Hopefully with rehab and a lot of hard work she will begin to regain her strength and increase her function over the next couple of weeks. The goal is that she will then be able to go home with the continued support of in home physical therapy, occupational therapy, home healthcare and her children and grandchildren. This fund is going to allow her stay in her home while she recovers . Her goal is to get back to working as soon as she is able! Thank you everyone who has supported her along this challenging time. UPDATE

Allison is still in the hospital but she is stable and showing signs of improvement. Yesterday she lifted her left arm above her head! This is a huge improvement!! We are definitely celebrating all the small victories. She is so thankful to all who have shared this gofund me and to those who have been able to donate. We are all so grateful. We are hoping she will move to a rehab facility in the next few days where she will begin an intensive rehabilitation program. After that, we are hoping to set her up to stay in her home with home health care and the help of her family. This go fund me will be used to help her keep her home while she gets strong enough to go back to what she loves, providing telehealth counseling for individuals. Thank you all. Dearest family, friends, and members of the community, our family is reaching out to you as an effort to receive extra support and help as we face a difficult, sudden, and complicated change in the health of a loved one. She is a mother, a grandmother, a sister, and ultimately a massive part of many peoples lives. Allison Greer, has suffered through a critically severe stroke and has been in the hospital since Tuesday, January 21st. As our family begins to address the dire situation we are in, the reality sets in that on our own we could never handle this without the support from others within our community. Allison had a stroke which caused a large hemorrhage on the right side of her parietal lobe and made partial impact on her occipital lobe. This is massively affecting her physical health due to her inability to perceive that the left side of her body is still functional and part of her. Her vision on the left side is experiencing similar symptoms as she is having difficulty recognizing her loved ones when using her left field of vision. With these factors at play she has been unable to move her left side other than the occasional wiggling of a finger and her recovery could take many months to a year. As Allison gets prepared to enter a rehabilitation center to recover as much as possible our family needs your support. 

Allison is still young and independent. She lives in her own apartment with her dog. Before the sudden stroke she worked from home as a therapist, providing for herself, and living a high functioning life. Since Allison is an independent contract therapist she therefore does not qualify for the benefits that most employed individuals would. As we move through the month of February, Allison’s financial situation will become challenging without any income. Our family is doing the best we can to overcome these challenges. We are applying her to as many state and federal supports but even with that we still lack the resources to maintain a home for Allison to return to and continue her recovery in. We understand that times truly are hard for everyone. Yet, any small donation that can be made on this Go Fund Me will directly go towards Allison’s basic needs and allow her to keep her home during her intensive recovery.
