My name is Lynda Wands and I am starting this GoFundMe for my daughter, Allison Mann. Allison was admitted to the hospital in November with an infection in her foot. She had been battling foot infections for quite a while, but this time was different. She lost the battle and had to have her right leg amputated below the knee. On top of the trauma of losing a leg, she subsequently had a stroke while in the hospital, leaving her unable to use her right side.

Since Allison did not have health insurance, after her hospital stay, she was only allowed the minimum amount of rehabilitation (two weeks) and she was sent home with no services. This means no physical or occupational therapy, no medical assistance such as wound care, and no home care. Since she is now unable to return to her job as a pre-K nursery school teacher, she has no means to obtain the help she needs to survive. Allison lives in a two-story house which she will have to move out of since the bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. Less than a year ago, Allison had triple bypass heart surgery and it is imperative that she take medication. As you can imagine, the physical, mental, and emotional trauma this has all caused her is overwhelming. Without insurance or a job, this is an impossible situation. Allison is in the process of trying to obtain disability, but as of right now, she has no help.

Her immediate needs are financial support for rehabilitation, home care, medical equipment, and medication while meeting her normal living expenses and moving to a more suitable home. The longer-term goal is to get a prosthesis so in the future she will be able to regain a semblance of a normal life.

Allison has always been a hard worker with a big heart. Right now she is desperately in need to get the proper care and professional attention she needs to recover.
