Now that I have your attention, please help me make my film "The Pet Sitter!"

“The Pet Sitter” is a horror-comedy short that's "John Wick" meets "Home Alone" with a strong female lead, a mischievous cat, and lots of blood and popcorn! This particular pet sitter is not only responsible for taking care of the pet but also needs to look after a mysterious package delivered late at night. When masked home invaders show up, that's where the fun really begins! Watch The Pet Sitter do whatever it takes to save the cat and protect her boss’s mysterious delivery.

I am a horror writer, and I wrote "The Pet Sitter" as an homage to the films that impacted me the most as a young girl. It's a film filled with familiar tropes, particularly the "young woman home alone late at night" trope. But things are not as they seem in this quiet suburban neighborhood.

Horror films sustained me while growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. Not the best eras for strong female characters in film. As any horror fan knows, many of the films in the 70's and 80's were about terrorizing young women, women without the ways or means to protect themselves or fight back effectively. The Pet Sitter will showcase how these female-centric horror tropes have changed from “hapless victim” to “vengeful final girl,” showing badass women in action!

My goal is to get this film ready to submit to the Final Frame Horror Short Film Competition (FINAL FRAME Horror Short Film Competition - FilmFreeway) that will take place during the annual Horror Writers Association conference in June 2026. I have a producer and actor who is ready to play the lead role, and she’s finding the rest of the cast and crew, some who will volunteer their time to keep costs to a minimum. Your generous donations will help us pay for studio time, equipment rental, special effects and make-up supplies, a cat and a cat wrangler to assure our furry friend is treated humanely, a sound crew, and refreshments for the cast and crew for the three days we anticipate filming. We'll need funds for post-production work, too, and for festival submissions.
