Help Allie Rebuild After Tornado Loss

Donation protected
Those of you who know my daughter, Allie Broaddus, know that she has spent her entire life helping people. Even now, she devotes the use of her skills as an Occupational Therapist to serve vulnerable children and families every single day through her work at St. Louis crisis nurseries.

Now it is our turn to help Allie. On Friday, May 16th, Allie lost her home to the F3 tornado that devastated so much of St. Louis. Allie owned a condo on the top floor of a charming old historic brick building. When Allie returned to her condo after the tornado passed, she was relieved to find that her kitties were unharmed but was shocked to find she was looking out at blue sky through what used to be her ceiling. Her living room and bedroom were covered in insulation, broken glass, and lots and lots of bricks. Since that time, more and more of the ceiling has caved in, and there is significant water damage in her walls. As of now, Allie and the rest of the condo residents are prohibited from even entering the building.

Right now, we are waiting on a thorough structural evaluation of the entire condo building and are told that alone could take 30-60 days. Rebuilding could take from 6 months to a year. Of course, Allie will have to continue making payments on her condo during that time, as well as securing additional housing and furnishings.

The really unfortunate part of this story is that Allie and the other condo owners have faced two significant “assessments” in the last 18 months. Allie had to pay $14,000 for new balconies in 2024 and was recently assessed $10,000 for her share of a new roof. Guess what? That roof was completed THE DAY BEFORE the tornado hit… (The balconies withstood the tornado, the roof was a total loss.) So Allie is facing this disaster with her savings depleted and her money tied up in real estate that no longer functionally exists.

Allie has already been so blessed by the outpouring of love and care from people literally all around the world. Many people have asked how they can help her, and some have even sent care packages and money already. But I wanted to give others this opportunity to help ease this time of transition for Allie. If you would like to leave a monetary donation, or a note of encouragement, I know that Allie will be so touched and so appreciative.

Thank you so much,
Stephanie Broaddus
