I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt request for support for my daughter, Allie, who lives with epilepsy. Despite her incredible strength and resilience, managing her condition is a daily challenge. One of the most critical tools we need to ensure her safety is a seizure alert device.

Allie is 25 years old and is a single mom of a 4-year-old daughter. She's probably the brightest young woman I know. I am, of course, biased in my opinion of her, but she's the most important person in my life, and I would never want to have her become another statistic to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy).

Seizures can occur without warning, and during these episodes, she needs immediate assistance. A seizure alert device will notify us and others around her when a seizure occurs, allowing for timely intervention. This technology can be life-changing, providing peace of mind and helping us keep her safe.

Unfortunately, these devices can be quite costly, and insurance does not fully cover them. We are hoping to raise $2000 to purchase the device and any necessary accessories.

The SAMi-3 Kit includes everything you need for an out-of-the-box ready SAMi-3 sleep movement monitoring system. Created by parents of a child with Epilepsy, the SAMi™ camera is a sleep activity monitor for caregivers and parents who need to watch for abnormal movement at night for babies/infants, children, and adults. When abnormal movement is detected, the SAMi movement monitoring system can alert the caregiver so they can take action while automatically recording video that can be used to review later. This kit is ideal for travel. The cost is $1,399.00 that doesn't include internet access. Anything over that we are using for the subscription/internet access.

Allie does not respond well to the medication that prescribed for seizure disorders. She would prefer to take CBDs. These are not covered by her Medicaid insurance.

She does not qualify for grants as they are aimed towards children under the age of 18.
